Download Festival 2018
Certainly, there is no exaggeration in saying that
"Download Festival" is the biggest rock music event of summer in
England. Initially, it started in England but now it is spreading around the
world and in countries like Spain, France and now Australia as well.
Thousands of people gather annually in Donington Park,
Leicestershire, England and entertain themselves with this heavy and rock metal
music event.
Like every year, this event is going to start in June from
Friday 8 to Sunday 10.
History
The history of this event is quite fascinating. In Great
Britain, an event named "Monster of Rock" had been held from 1980 to
1996. That "Monster of Rock" was Rock music event similar to
"Download Festival" in the 20th century. When "Monster of
Rock" event stopped in 1996 it needed a successor to fulfill its place and
also fulfill thrust of Rock music fans. "Download Festival" fully
served this task.
This event started in May/June 2003 and was created by
Stuart Galbraith, Tom Pyke, and Andy Copping. In this time frame, it had hosted
biggest names of Rock music from Saxon and Iron maiden to Faith No More and
Guns N' Roses.

When you first read the name
"Download" for a Rock music Fest, it may feel absurd. But there is Story
behind it.
Download mean file sharing. Since it served
as a source of connectivity to the audience and share music with them,
therefore, this name is given to this contest.

The second reason for this unusual name is: When
it started in 2003, the tickets that are given to audience have a code of them,
which allow them to Download tracks from the bands. Although the facility is
not available now. But this is a reason behind this name.
Overview
In 2003, this was a single day event which expanded to three
days in 2005. The sign of DOG is used as a symbol of this event. It appears on
all materials of the festival from tickets to merchandise.
2003: This was First Festival was held on 31stMay-1stJune.
All the Famous Bands performed in front of thousands of people.
2004:
This year Festival was held on 5th-6th June. Not only this, a two-day festival
was held on Glasgow Green, Scotland. But this event took place before the
original event of Donington Park. This event was also loved and praised by
people.
2005:
This year Festival was held on 10th-12thJune. This year event was
different from previous ones because for the first time three day event was
held.
2006:
The 2006 Download Festival was held at Donington Park, England on 9–11
June. A Controversy arose because bottles were thrown on Guns N' Roses.
2007:
The event of 2007 took place on 8-10June.
2008:
This year the date that was selected for the event was 13th-15thjune.
2009:
The 2009 Festival took place on 12–14 June at Donington Park with an estimated
attendance of 120,000 over 3 days.
2010:
This year festival was confirmed on 11th-13thJune 2010.
2011:
The Download Festival in this year was held on the weekend of
10th-12thJune.
2012:
In 2012, the event took place on 8th, 9th and 10th June.
2013:
The 11th edition of Download Festival occurred on 14-16June.
2014:
This year this happened on 13th-15th of June.
2015:
The 2015 edition of event occurred on 12-14June.
2016:
The 14th edition of Festival held on 10th to 12th of June.
France Event: Not only the event was Held in England but
this time event also occurred in France on the same weekend as of England. The
Lineup was also similar but not identical. People appreciated this thing very
much.
2017:
The 15th event took place on 9–11 June 2017.
France Event: the
Second event of France took place on the same weekend as held in Donington,
England.
Spain Event:
After the spread of event in France, the next destination was Madrid, the
capital of Spain.
The
Download Festival 2018:
This year the event will be going to be held on the weekend
from 8th to 10th of June in Donington, England.
All-Big Music bands will entertain the crowd with the best
heavy and rock music.
Australia:
Due to increasing popularity of rock music and also of this
fest now it is going to Australia. Since Australian summer is not in June but
rather starts in September, therefore in transitory summer this "Download
Festival" is going to be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018. But one sad
thing that people will enjoy only one-day music
France:
After the main event of England, on the weekend of 15th,
16th and 17th June "Download Festival" is going to be held for the
third. Line up for this event is different from the event of Australia and
England.
Spain:
For the second the second time, "Download" is
going to happen in Madrid, Spain. People will amuse themselves from music at
the last weekend of June i-e 28th 29th and 30th
Bottom line:
The
Download Festival no doubt is the biggest rock music event. Not only England,
but it is spreading around the world, it is expected to be arranged in other
countries as well and surely it will be praised everywhere.
